			<description>has anyone started using this tool for backing up students files. I am not really sure if i have got it right. students have to actually save their work to my locker and then at the end of they day if they sinc then all the files they have saved to my locker  and only them will automatically update. am i on the right track.  my ts1 doesn't have my locker but our tso is starting the re image process so i may have one soon. and maybe i will getmy c drive back.  </description>

I think a squishy laptop with no mouse with a whole bunch of unfamiliar software is perhaps too big a leap for some users. It’s free but it’s frustrating....

It would have been better to have a less restrictive software policy where teachers could load familiar software in a separate partition/sandbox before they drifted to the other newer software. 

I’m missing programs I've been using for years like firefox, gmail (how come the students can use it with a 7.3 GB capacity  ...</description>

For this, I limited myself to only software modifications. Nothing was done to the hardware



After much googling, I was eventually able to gain access to the bios. Basically, if I want to, I can now format the machine (not that I am going to)



The kicker? It took 30 minutes.

After a couple of days out and about with the laptop, i came to the conclusion if you want a full day's work from the laptop, take the charger.



I wondered if i was being premature so kept an eye on charge today..... battery was fully charged. I was on wifi most of the day. Results were from when I turned it first on in the morning to the first 'will hibernate/need power' warning  in the afternoon...

			<description><![CDATA[Whilst exploring some of the adobe software i am getting the message to open the application as an administrator  or all the functions may not work. In particular captivate 4.  I was playing with fireworks and creating rollover images and wanted to video my process but I can't seem to record . Unfortunately it is .ram files to be viewed in Real Media Player, which is not installed on the laptops, and requires admin rights to install.

			<description>my laptop is not working atm, so I'm exclusively using the ideapad.



I plugged my iPhone in to charge tonight, and was told my iTunes is an old version and needs updating... No problem; I cancelled the Safari install and ran the iTunes/Quicktime update.



About halfway through it stopped. I tried again - still no good.  Has anyoen had any luck upgrading to 8.2? or can that not happen because of our restricted privileges?





On a positive note... I took my ideapad into my yr10 geo  ...</description>

Despite being reassured that no PAC files would be required to connect to the new DER wireless network, I've been instructed to manually set up two ideapads this morning.



Thankfully, I've only got 10 staff machines, so it won't be too much of an issue to set them up.



Have others had the same issue with PAC files?



This arvo, I spoke to someone else from the DER Helpdesk who informed me that my wireless network will not be functioning until my DipServer gets  ...</description>

Nothing happens... I have even removed the battery.

The machine just sits there... refusing to interact. I have tried the metallic power button, had a go at ctrl-alt-del, clicked the trackpad buttons etc etc to no avail.

I used the SetS10e shortcut on my desktop to turn off the virtual desktop size, but now want to turn it back on. The setxga shortcut does not do it though. Helpdesk guy's response was &quot;well, it should!&quot;  I thought so too! Has anyone else had this problem? I've restarted and tried thr shortcut again; no dice.)
