The software is primitive. All Music faculties use either finale or sibelius. One of the cutdown versions should be on the laptops as well as the TPL program "ACID XPRESS"

Muse Score is just a free version of Finale Notepad but with easier input and whilst unstable it is pretty nifty with lots of possibilities. If they save the files as midi then finale should be able to open it (?).

Neither Finale or Sibelius have a freeware version of thier software so can not be considered for the DER Netbooks.

Acid Xpress is available as freeware so could be considered.
